Nature and Politics
Looking into the politics of coal shows just how important it is for a thoughtful and educated citizenry to work towards enacting effective change within the system of governance over and above the 'get involved every four years' and move on mentality.
Politics can be dirty and unwholesome. After all, it is the art of dealing with people. There needs to be people who will stand up and be counted for ideas whose time has come and who will speak out over the stupid and short-sighted actions taken by those in positions of power whether they are in government or in private industry.
Politics matters and actions are important. We all try to live better lives, more meaningful, with stronger convictions with the passing of each day and we often fail, learning its time to start all over again the next day. The less we know, the more costly democratic governance can become.
